Traditional banking hours are 1030-1430 (Mon to Fri) and 1030-1230 (sat). However several banks have introduced 12-hour banking, and some even offer Sundays morning services. Similarly, shops usually operate from 0930 to 1800 (Mon-sat), but with increased competition, many, stores, especially chains and large department store, have longer hours and stay open on Sundays. It is important to note that cities like Ahmedabad and Vadodara have longer, more convenient hours of operation, while rural areas and many of the cities in Saurashtra and kachchh shut down for an afternoon break. Also, it is difficult to find restaurant that are open in the morning for breakfast. Most restaurant start after 1030 and close between 2200-2300 however there are always street side vendors selling chai and different types of snacks in the mornings.
